My Journey at Long An Elementary School (Part 2)

Day 2 (15/5)

Today marks the first day which i will be with Long An Elementary School for the following 6 weeks. It was a very nostalgic feeling, bringing me back to my old days when i was in primary school. Initially, i was worried that the students would be afraid of me and ignore my presence and not interacting with me. However, my worries were for nothing as they were all very friendly and cute! I got along with them pretty well in no time and they would share their snacks and toys with me too. They had a mini welcome party for us too, bringing various snacks from home to share with us. Some even prepared a dance or singing performance!

I was impressed by their performance as they displayed confidence even though some of them are not good in it.

This was also the first time i witnessed that students had to go to the corridor to do their morning exercise around 10am everyday. A different song will be played each day. This is something which is not found in Singapore!

Went to Ikea for dinner with the other Aiesec members from different countries. It was nice meeting new people in a foreign country!

Day 3 (16/5)

Had dinner with my homestay owner, who happens to be one of the teacher in Long An Elementary School. Had a taste of the smelly pot and i must say that it is not smelly at all! In fact, i kind of love it.

Day 4 (17/5)

One of the school volunteer mum was very kind to bring us out on a 1 day trip with her children as well as her sister and her family. We toured around Bei Pu old street and Nei Wan.

We stopped by for some Hakka Dishes which Bei Pu is known for

Met up with the other volunteer exchange students for this special tour!

Had a try at the local games store. Looks easy but its not at all!

A photo with both volunteer families as well as All Aiesec members within Taoyuan county before we embark on the suspension bride along Nei Wan.

We even got a chance to play GoKart, after crossing the suspension bridge.

After a long day, we still have the energy to sing!

My Journey in Long An Elementary School (Part 1)

Day 1 (14/5)

After the process of matching with an assignment and communicating with the students from Aiesec Taiwan, not to mention completing my final exams in University, I finally landed in Taiwan!

The flight was 4 1/2 hours long. I arrived in the wee hours of the morning. Jerry and Joe, students whom are part of the Aiesec organization in Taiwan, came over to the airport to pick me up. The in-charge of Long An Elementary School, Ms Xiao Ping, came over and drove us to the school for a brief tour.

As I had touched down early in the morning, Ms Xiao Ping was kind and offered me to rest for the day and regain my energy to meet the students tomorrow!
